Land Rover & Jaguar key cuting & programming of smart key to KVM

In around late 2013 Land Rover & Jaguar began using a new type of KVM (Keyless Vehicle Management) unit in their vehicles to add extra security. As a result even the dealers cannot add a spare key to these units via OBD using standard diagnostic equipment.

We can add a spare or replacement key for you in these instrances but this service takes longer and involves specialist equipment.

Even the dealer cannot say for certain from the VIN if your vehicle will have this particular module or not until they physically inspect the vehicle and see which unit is fitted. The list below is a guide only and if we find when you bring your vehicle to us that it is fitted with the older DPLA unit we will be able to do the job via OBD and you will not be charged the additional cost of this service.

When bringing your vehicle to us please ensure the boot is empty and any child seats fitted to the back seat are removed if possible as this will speed up the process and avoid any additional charges for extra labour time.

This service covers us duplicating the new key blade to match your old key and coding the new remote part and transponder so that the key key can work fully with the vehicle.

In many cases the software used in the diagnostic tool is licensed from the software owner who may be the car manufacturer or electronics company who designed the remotes. The diagnostic tool may have many different pieces of software from many different companies inside it and these companies allow locksmiths or mechanics to use the software for a fee.

The device often uses a token based payment system where a token or number of tokens are deducted from the device each time the tool is used to program a remote or key and these tokens have an associated cost. This is why we must charge an additional fee when remotes are programmed using this method.
