The information relating to which type EIS unit is in a specific vehicle is not very accurate and so we can generally only confirm this once we plug into the vehicle and scan for the EIS type. Once we know which type of EIS is fitted to the vehicle we can also confirm the method of programming required to add a key.

The method of programming needed varies dramaticallty in the amount of time it requires and the equipment needed, hence the price varies also. We will only ever charge you for the time used and so if the programming can be done using the OBD2 port or IR then this is what you will be charge for but if the EIS for instance is a W202, W203, W208, W210, W219, W220, W230, W215, W463 or W639 then the majority of the time it can only be done o bench.

To code a key on bench we need to remove the EIS unit and code directly to it. 

The price of this service only applies to keys we supply. We do not code keys supplied by the customer for this type of vehicle.

This service covers us duplicating the new emergency key blade to match your old key and coding the new remote part and transponder so that the key key can work fully with the vehicle.

In many cases the software used in the diagnostic tools used is licensed from the software owner who may be the car manufacturer or electronics company who designed the remotes. The diagnostic tool may have many different pieces of software from many different companies inside it and these companies allow locksmiths or mechanics to use the software for a fee or token.

The device often uses a token based payment system where a token or number of tokens are deducted from the device each time the tool is used to program a remote or key and these tokens have an associated cost. This is why we must charge an additional fee when remotes are programmed using this method.
