This product has been temporarily removed from sale as direct result of the Consumer Goods (Products Containing Button/Coin Batteries) Safety Standard 2020 which becomes enforceable on 22nd June 2022 and carries fines of up to $1million. 

All products that contain a button cell or coin type battery must be safety tested to confirm they comply with these new regulations. All button cell batteries must be in a new type of packaging with new labels. 

We are working with all of our suppliers to confirm this compliance before we make the product available for sale again. 

We should have had 18 months to get this compliance but sadly the ACCC did not inform our suppliers or us or pretty much any other industry and we only found out about this new law 4 weeks ago.

This remote slot key is a key which needs to be placed in the slot in the dash of the car to enable you to start the vehicle.

A proximity remote key can be in your pocket and you will still be able to open and start the car.

It is important to understand the difference between a remote slot key and a proximity remote key, as the technology inside the key will differ and the process to program each type differs dramatically.

Programming a remote slot key to a vehicle that has a proximity remote key already will disable the proximity function and so both keys will only then work when placed in the slot in the dash.

Programming Volvo keys is a slow process and it can take up to 3 hours on some vehicle to decrypt the data to retrieve the password. 

Programming is charged at $165 on top of the cost of the key. 

The photos attached show some examples of where to find the part numbers on your key. Please take great care when opening the case of your key to not cause any damage to the electronics inside.

Dispose of used button/coin batteries immediately and safely. A battery can still be dangerous even when it can no longer operate the device. Place sticky tape around both sides of the battery and dispose of it immediately out of reach of children in an outside bin or recycle safely.
