Land Rover Discovery 4 proximity remote key case replacement

The rubber coating on the front of this style Land Rover Discovery 4, 5 button proximity remote will sometimes come loose and peel off. This OEM style replacement case allows you to move all the working electronics from inside your old damaged key into this new case.

The kit consists of the front and back plastic sections of the case and the chrome side pieces with the battery slide also.

PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NO ELECTRONICS OR EMERGENCY KEY BLADE INCLUDED IN THIS KIT.

You should always take great care when handling the electronic circuit board inside your key as if you damage it, the vehicle may no longer recognise the key and so may not start.

If the electronics in your key have failed and you need a complete new remtoe key, we can supply, cut and program one for you at our East Victoria Park workshop.

To open the case you must first press on the small black release at the top of the key between the two chrome sections. While pressing down on the release you can slide the chome part outwards as it is hinged on the bottom corner of the key. Once you open both sides - remove the battery taking note of which way up it is. Then gently and carefully remove the emergency key blade.

Once both of thesee are removed you will need to lift off the back of the case using a flat implement such as a dull knife.

Once you remove the back senction you can now very carefully move the circuit board from the old case to the new case taking note of its orientation. There are very small plastic location lugs on the front part of the new case. Please take great care to locate the back section on these before pressing it together to avoid breaking them.

We see many cases where these plastic lugs have been broken by people trying to change the battery in the key and not fully understanding what they are doing or while smapping over the PCB the customer does not line up the lugs before trying to pres both parts together. 

Using a multimeter it is a good idea to test your battery and replace it with a good quality Japanese made Panasonic or Maxell battery if the voltage is below 3V.
