VW 3 button new style flip key case with chrome key loop & HU162 key blade

This new style flip key is used on a large number of VW vehicles from around 2013 onward. This new immobiliser platform is know as MQB and is quite different to the older style flip keys which mostly used ID48 transponder chips.

There are 2 types of key blades used in the newer keys and this one here uses the new style Silca HU162 or JMA HU-4C1 key blade profile which has only been used in VW keys in very recent years.

Take a good look at the photos to ensure you are choosing the correct item and your key blade is the same shape.

This newer HU162 key blade is only 6.75mm wide where as the HU66 key blade is 8.25mm wide. 

Genuine VW MQB key shells are glued together but this aftermarket key shell uses 2 screws to secure the case together which makes it quite strong when correctly assembled.

If you decide to try swap over the electronics from your old key you will need to be extremly careful as any damage to the PCB will result in your car not starting and you may end up with an extrely large bill to sort that out. We strongly reccomend you use us to swap the key shell over or use a locksmith near you who should stock a similar replacement case.

The images attached show the various steps used to disassemble this key shell but do not show the steps involved in taking apart a genuine key as this is a different process.

1. Using expander pliers or a large flat blade screw driver - pry open the battery cover from in the key slot
2. Remove the 2 screws from the case
3. You can now slide the chrome key loop to the left and remove it
4. Use a flat blade screw driver to now gently pry off the chrome side section of the case from the loop end
5. You can now very carefully pry apart the front and back sections of the case.
6. Take care when doing this as the srping may fly out if you open it too quickly.

To reassemble the case simply do the above steps in reverse. You will need to tension the spring by inserting the back case section and turning 1 turn anti-clockwise then press it closed.

We charge $50 to swap over the electronics from your old key and cut the blade in this new key.

YOU CANNOT SWAP YOUR OLD KEY BLADE WITH THIS ONE AS IT WILL NOT FIT INTO THE FLIP MECHANISM.

This key shell has a chrome section along the edge where as this part on your original key shell will be black. This key shell does not come with a VW logo sticker but does have a 10.80mm round recess on the back where you can fit one if you wish or you can swap the logo from your old key onto this new one.
